Frequently asked questions about the free electricity market, balancing groups, changing supplier, RES and BESS.
The free market allows consumers to choose their supplier and negotiate prices. All non-residential clients in Bulgaria are already supplied at freely negotiated prices. Household consumers are expected to fully transition to the free market from 1 January 2026.

Yes. The change is free and without power interruption. Balkan Logic handles all procedures with the network operator. The process takes up to 30 days.
IBEX is the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange. Final price = exchange price + trader markup + grid fees + public service obligations + excise duty and VAT. Balkan Logic optimizes the exchange component through efficient portfolio management.
Solar plants produce intermittently — depending on cloud cover, season and time of day. The coordinator forecasts hourly production using meteorological data and manages the differences (imbalances). With over 1000 MW RES capacity, Balkan Logic achieves high diversification.
BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) is a battery system for electricity storage. It charges during high RES production and low prices, and discharges during peak consumption. Bulgaria reached 5000 MWh of battery capacity in 2025, with expectations of 15000 MWh by 2026.
